Answer

The lowest risk is associated with any activity, event, or gathering that is exclusively virtual.

Smaller, outdoor events that are socially distanced (6 feet apart) with people from different households, but from the same local area, wearing masks and not sharing objects has more risk than virtual-only events.

Events with higher risk still include social distancing, but involve a larger amount of attendees that come from outside the local area.

The highest risk is associated with large, in-person gatherings where social distancing is difficult and attendees are from outside the local area.

The CDC recommends that those who are at risk for severe illness avoid high-risk events.

To stay safe at any event, practice social distancing, wear a mask, wash your hands often, and limit contact with commonly-touched surfaces and shared items.
