Soil health is a more complete way to think about soil. Soils are made of three parts; biological, chemical, and physical parts that interact in complex ways. Just like us, soils are alive, unique, and dynamic.

Right now, there are many people working in different ways to evaluate and build soil health. For farmers, that means trying new ways of working their land to preserve soil and help it become healthier. For researchers, that means creating and testing practices and frameworks for reporting results. For many others, it means getting their soils tested and tracking how they can improve their soils.

Soil health, like human health, is a wide-ranging approach to soil management and fertility—the ability for soil to support plant growth.
