Many foods we eat come from the typical supply chain: production, processing, distribution, and retail. Local foods are foods sold within a short distance from where they were produced. While farmers markets are the most recognizable example of producers selling directly to consumers, there are other avenues like roadside stands and community supported agriculture (CSA). We walk through the economics of direct marketing and highlight two engagement methods that help support local food systems.
